About the Authors:

Bryony Sheaves is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist working within the Oxford Cognitive Approaches to Psychosis research group at the University of Oxford and within Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. She has authored over 25 research papers on the topic of sleep disruption and the link with mental health problems, including leading trials treating insomnia and nightmares for people with co-occurring severe mental health problems. Her work has provided some of the first evidence that sleep disruption is a contributory cause of mental health problems, and therefore that improving sleep is a route through which we can all enhance our emotional wellbeing.

Louise Isham is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with OCTC and Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. She set up and leads OCTC’s PGCert in Enhanced CBT (Psychosis and Bipolar) course. She is also a clinical researcher within the Oxford Cognitive Approaches to Psychosis research group (University of Oxford). Her research focuses on improving psychological therapies for people with severe mental health problems. She was the main trial therapist on the OWLS trial – a pilot randomised controlled trial of a novel CBT sleep intervention designed specifically for psychiatric inpatients led by Bryony Sheaves. Louise has extensive experience both in delivering gold-standard sleep interventions as well as in training and supervising other clinical staff in this approach.
