This is an online workshop. You will join the current cohort on the Postgraduate Certificate in Psychological Trauma and Personality Development course.
The foundation of this workshop is the Ehlers and Clark (2000) model of persistent PTSD; the workshop will build out from this model. The workshop will consider assessment and formulation. It will bring a focus to how people re-experience past events in intrusive memories, flashbacks, and nightmares - and how we might work with these. We will explore the misconceptions about trauma-focused therapy and consider the issues around readiness for trauma-focused work. For the most part, working in NHS services means that we are working with clients who have experienced multiple traumatic events. Sometimes it is hard to know how to approach this work, where to start and what to do. This online workshop will help you to orientate yourself to this work. The aim of this workshop is to help clinicians to improve knowledge, confidence and skills when offering trauma-focused CBT to people with PTSD or CPTSD.
This is a clinical skills workshop, and the emphasis will be on participants undertaking an active role in practicing the skills discussed throughout the day.
This workshop is suitable for clinicians who use cognitive behavioural therapy and have some experience of working with people with PTSD or CPTSD. It is always difficult to pitch workshops like these, but it is aimed to be somewhere between intermediate – advanced level – if you have more experience, you are more than welcome, and this might be considered as a refresher for you. The workshop leader has extensive clinical experiencing treating PTSD and CPTSD.

A digital certificate that states the hours of live participation in the workshop will be issued to you after the training event. You must attend the workshop live to receive a certificate.
