ESSENTIAL SKILLS

This workshop aims to meet the needs of those who want to be more aware of the basic principles and methods of good CBT supervision. It offers essential training for those who anticipate offering supervision in the near future and for those who have already embarked upon it but who want to enhance their basic knowledge and skills.
The workshop introduces the core skills of:
• Contracting
• Goal setting
• Structuring sessions
• Evaluating supervisees
• Giving feedback
It also acknowledges the importance of:
• Process issues and the supervisory alliance
Pilling and Roth’s core competencies of supervision (2008) will be reviewed and clinical material will be used throughout to illustrate teaching points.
Helen Kennerley has many years of experience as a supervisor in CBT and has a lead role in supervision teaching and training for the Advanced Course in Cognitive Therapy in Oxford.
